The Purpose of Bethany
Lutheran Church
We,
the people of God, with and through the Spirit of our Lord Jesus Christ are
known as the congregation of Bethany Lutheran Church, serving Bethel Park
and the surrounding area. We are also members of the Evangelical Lutheran
Church in America, united in a common purpose with all congregations so
associated.
As
we declare in our church’s constitution, we understand that, as the people
of God empowered by the Holy Spirit, we are “called and sent to bear
witness to God’s creative, redeeming and sanctifying activity in the
world”.
Therefore, we are striving to nurture ourselves through our learning of the Christian faith, so as to establish more effective internal communications and external outreach to the community. We also are dedicated to the provision of quality and Spirit led worship. At the hands of God, we are fed and nurtured in our faith; through Word and Sacrament, we are given the opportunity to bear much fruit. Our works are to exhibit our love of God and His love for us. Likewise, our building is to a center of faith and community activity drawing others towards the saving grace of our God and Savior. |
