The
Services of Bethany
Lutheran Church
“Confirmation
Extra Curricular” consists of the Confirmation Class, the current Confirmation
teacher, and Pastor. This group
meets on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month from 9:30 – 11:00
sometimes for a lesson, but most times for an educational field trip (i.e. to
the art museum), a social time of conversation and fun, or a service project
that takes place in the surrounding community.
This time is a supplement to the regular confirmation class time on
Sunday mornings (9:30-10:45).
.
“Bethany
Lutheran Church Women” These distinguished women of the church meet on the
second Tuesday of the month for Bible Study, fellowship, and they are always
engaged in some kind of social outreach ministry (i.e. preparing care packages
for shut-ins.) Their studies always produce lively discussion and great
opportunities for learning.
“Care
and Share” This group also gets together for meals and fellowship, but their
primary focus is upon quilting. They
meet on the fourth Tuesday of the month at 10:00.
These women get together and sew beautiful blankets to send around the
world to disadvantaged families and children.
Theirs is a labor of love and kindness that inspires the whole church.
“New Members Courses” Periodically through out
the church year a new members class is held.
These classes meet from 7:00 – 8:30 on the second and fourth Mondays of
the month. The whole course is only
four weeks long, but it is jam packed with information that prepare folks for
membership in the Christian Church and for membership at Bethany in particular.
These classes are not required for membership and can be taken by anyone
wanting a refresher course in foundational beliefs.
“First Holy Communion Classes” As need arises a
First Holy Communion Class is formed. These
young people meet the first and third Saturdays of the month from 9:30-10:30.
Once again, the course is four weeks in length and is a great
introduction to the Sacrament of Holy Communion.
The material is adaptable and appropriate for most age groups.
Upon completion of the course the young people are recognized in Sunday
morning worship and receive the Sacrament for the first time.
“Spiritual Counseling” Pastor is always willing
to spend time in meaningful conversation with parishioners.
Time can be scheduled with pastor to discuss any number of spiritual
concerns. Though pastor does not
pretend to be a licensed therapist, he can direct you in the right path should
you need such assistance. Practical
Pastoral Counseling (i.e. pre-marital counseling, baptismal counseling, private
spiritual direction) is always available to members of the parish at no cost.
